One of life's simple pleasures is to enjoy a stroll or picnic in the countryside or in a beautiful park. Being able to walk to several parks and gardens around us was one of the reasons we decided to buy this London house. It has been very relaxing to be able to get away from the pressures of work almost on a daily basis and enjoy the areas of outstanding natural beauty on our doorstep.
Lloyd Park
This London property is situated about a 5-6 minute walk from Lloyd Park, which is ideal for sports, walks, picnics or just lying around in the sunshine.
Walking through the formal area of Lloyd Park leads to open heath land - a total of 114 acres! It's just like being in the countryside.
In Autumn, football pitches are installed in part of the park, while in the summer a 400m running track is painted on! The park also supports a tennis club and has a children's play area with swings, climbing frames, roundabouts etc.
Coombe Wood Gardens
Coombe Wood gardens, with its stunning flower displays, is about a 10-15 min. walk away (2 minutes by car). It is a blaze of colour, especially in the spring when the azaleas and the rhododendrons are in full bloom. There is also a tea room with a courtyard seating area where you can enjoy afternoon tea in lovely surroundings.
Park Hill Gardens
Park Hill Gardens, with it's fine herb garden and quirky water tower are also within a 10-15 minute walk away. If you are walking to Croydon from the property, then you can cut through the Park for a bit of peace and quiet. This park also contains basketball courts.
PYO in Croydon
A 'Pick Your Own' farm is only about 5-6 minute drive away, selling fruit and vegetables in season.
The Cul-de-Sac
In addition to these beautiful nature spots in the vicinity of the house, the cul-de-sac we live in is also a very green area. Our Croydon property overlooks a park like setting at the front and is not overlooked.
The rear of the property is also surrounded by trees and not that much overlooked either, giving the back garden a particularly private feel.
